What it measures, and how
Every value comes from radar returns processed on the sensor. Raw radar data is not uploaded.
| Metric | How it is derived | In your report |
|---|---|---|
| Sleep stages | Breathing pattern, heart rate and movement, scored every 30 s | Hypnogram: Awake / Light / Deep / REM |
| Total sleep, efficiency | Sum of sleep epochs vs. time in bed | Hours and minutes, percent |
| Sleep onset, WASO | First stable sleep; wake epochs after it | Minutes, compared with baseline |
| Breathing rate | Chest displacement via FMCW range phase | Nightly average, breaths/min |
| Resting heart rate | Micro-movement of the chest wall during still periods | Nightly average, bpm |
| Movement, bed exits | Large-motion events and presence in range | Restless minutes, exit count and times |
| Room conditions | Built-in temperature and humidity sensor | °F / °C and % RH over the night |
The 6-week Somnaris Plan
A structured program built on behavioral sleep techniques: a consistent sleep window, stimulus control, relaxation and sleep hygiene. Each week uses your measured nights to set the next step.
- Week 1
Baseline. Sleep as usual for 7 nights while the sensor learns your normal range.
- Week 2
Fixed wake time and a sleep window set from your actual total sleep.
- Week 3
Stimulus control: bed for sleep only, and what to do after 20 minutes awake.
- Week 4
Wind-down routine with guided breathing and progressive muscle relaxation.
- Week 5
Room and habits: temperature, light, caffeine and late meals, checked against your data.
- Week 6
Window widened in 15-minute steps while efficiency holds. You keep the final schedule.
